Read Local Campaign!
The West Central Upstate NY SCBWI Region is pleased to join other SCBWI regions in championing local PAL authors! Our Read Local Campaign is a new, exciting initiative we’re undertaking to help create opportunity for our PAL authors & illustrators. Yay!
By reaching out to schools, libraries, bookstores, associations, businesses, local media, and others within our community, we hope to showcase the amazing talents of our local writers & illustrators. We also plan to participate in events throughout the year to help our authors & illustrators make connections that could result in future opportunities.
The formal launch of our Read Local Campaign will take place at The New York State Reading Association Conference in Liverpool, NY, this fall, where we have secured an exhibit booth that will be staffed by volunteer PAL members. This is an opportunity for our PALs to market themselves, their books, and their school programs to over 500 literacy specialists, library media leaders, and other decision-makers in school districts in our region. Other events will be announced. For more information contact: PAL Coordinator, Dee Romito or Regional Advisor, Sandra Athans email@example.com

- Author O. Eve School of Distinction #61, Buffalo, NY, is holding a ribbon cutting ceremony for their new book vending machine, November 27th. This is the first public school in Western New York to receive a book vending machine for Children’s Books. West-Central NY PALs will be represented at this ceremony. This Ceremony is by invitation.
